I hate my life. But it’s not what you think. Life with Chronic Illness is not what I thought I’d live with. Everything was going well and I was successful. Until chronic illness took my success and hid it away. While I have so many things to love, I can’t help that I sometimes forget for a minute and just remember what I’ve lost.

What do Aimovig, Ajovy, and Emgality have in common? Migraine for one, but more importantly, they are a class of monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) targeting calcitonin gene-related peptides (CGRPs). Some pretty smart people figured out that by blocking CGRPs in our bodies, just maybe they can also block attacks in people with chronic migraine. For me, personally, I started Aimovig back in June 2018. It’s been a great experience for me and I look forward to fewer migraine days ahead. It’s exciting and I’m so grateful to be able to utilize this medication. But it hasn’t been perfect and I still have attacks.

Just a few years ago, when I was working for corporate America sitting behind my desk writing reports about a faulty server or inadequate software testing I had just performed, I didn’t know things weren’t normal. I was tired and my mind was foggy, but I kept pushing forward, not realizing just how “off” I was. I didn’t want to lose my job.

Now in Month 4, Aimovig has made a big impact on my daily life. How did this migraine preventative handle hurricanes and tropical storms? How am I doing now that it’s all over?
