Goodnight 2016

From a small seed a mighty trunk may grow.

I have an achy smile for 2016 this afternoon, my day hasn’t been so productive. I’ve spent it in bed while my hubby and teens pack up our apartment and move us out. Today is the last day for us to be out of there. While I am doing my best not to feel guilty that I am not there helping, I am doing my best to care for myself and rest. I am distracting my mind catching up on Flash so I can start watching new episodes with my kids since they love it so much.

Tonight we have plans to cozy up on my parents king-sized bed, watching the ball drop and drinking sparkling cider. My parents are out of town so we’re taking advantage of their big bed and enjoying each other’s company. I have a feeling this will be one of the last New Year’s Eve nights our teens will be hanging out with us. Awe 🙁 We’ve been invited to a party and to another family member’s house to just watch movies. If I start feeling a little better, we might just go out and watch the movie with family. Who knows!

As I lay here reflecting on 2016, I realize it has been a pretty tough year for my little family of four. But we’re okay. We’re together, we’re building a stronger foundation for our future, and we’re trying our best to make the best out of the worst. I think 2017 will be a year of healing, growth, and renewal for us. We are finding out who we are, and that’s a great thing. Sure, we may be doing it backwards and starting late, but better late than never!

I hope you all have a wonderful evening and if you’re hurting tonight, I hope you are able to get a good night’s rest so that tomorrow when you open your eyes, 2017 is a little nicer to you. Much love and happiness!!
